Review of Philips HD7431/20 760-Watt Coffee Maker (Black)Disadvantages:1. 15A plug only. Can never use on UPS even if you want to or need to.2. Not a good design at all, that too from this electronics giant.3. Philips has made this coffee maker far more complicated and cumbersome than it needs to be.4. Filter housing can not be removed-> potential bacteria issue as it can not be cleaned easily. In most machines it is totally removable for daily cleaning.5. Glass Carafe lid can not be removed at all6. Has an ugly unwanted/non-required plastic tube protruding inside the glass carafe. ï Resulting in plastic tube getting âcookedâ in hot coffee all the time!7. Hot water delivery mechanism is really stupid. The water tank cover moves this hot water sprinkler into place from the side, but not quite to the center of coffee grounds. ->> Good chance of springs etc in this design going bad soon. Most machines have a stationery sprinkling system and it does not need to move at all.8. Hardly any proper instructions for this machine, no clarity and confusing.9. Removable Filter basket goes in ONLY âone wayâ into the filter housing(non removable one). Again unnecessary cumbersome design.10. The issue 9 above can lead to the âHot water Sprinkler Armâ going bad in a second without your knowledge, as it will hit against the removable filter, if put the wrong way!11. There is NO visible water level indicator on the water tank, though it says there is one in the specifications. Go figure! Ancient design indeed!12. Compared to other machines, it has a narrow opening for pouring the water in to the tank. Water will spill into the coffee in the filter basket, if you not careful!13. The shiny plastic body of this machine is very electrostatic and attracts dust from any cleaning cloth or surrounding.14. I found that this coffee maker does not make 1 Mug properly(i.e. level at 2-3 cup indicator on the carafe). Coffee flavor is not good and it tastes like under brewed coffee(Tested for 1 mug). My old machine makes much better coffee than this new one!! Absolutely no coffee smell or aroma while making the coffee!?15. I used the proper cone paper filter to make coffee. If you use the supplied mesh filter, you would end up with lot of coffee grounds mixed coffee. This is in part due to the fact that the Indian coffee companies donât make the âAutomatic Coffee makerâ proper grade of coarse coffee powder.16. I have been using Automatic Drip Coffee makers for 40 years now and as an expert, I DONâT RECOMMEND THIS RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE not so good COFFEE MAKERNOTE TO ALL: I am kicking myself for having bought this Philips coffee maker. I DIDN’T REALIZE THESE THINGS CAN’T BE RETURNED.

Terrible
Philips is a renowned make, but they’ve bungled the design this time: the tiny filter in the machine more often than not ensures that the coffee will overflow, causing waste and mess. And the overall capacity is too little – two mug’s worth is the maximum, which is really neither here nor there for more than one drinker. Only saving grace is that the coffee was acceptably warm. I have initiated a return for my machine, and will purchase another model/make. I believe this particular maker would waste enough coffee, in a few months, to purchase another machine!

Terrible build quality – donât recommend
Bought it last year, so have used the product for a while now, quite regularly. While it makes a decent cup of coffee, the product quality is very plasticky and brittle. Even the pot that comes with the coffee machine is made of a very thin glass and can break easily while washing, so please be careful.Abruptly stopped working one day, and Philips customer service is absolutely terrible. Had to take it to couple of service centres to be told either they donât have the spare parts required to repair, or the cost of repair itself could pay for a new product. Refused to replace even though warranty was in place.Overall, I wouldnât recommend this product.

Not sure what it does
I wanted a coffee maker! As soon as I put some water, it simply pours down to the kettle below. Oh yeah, I can see there is a spring mounted opening below, but which is pushed up by the kettle.(it doesn’t pour down unless the kettle pushes the vent up). Hence whatever is put in the funnel kind of vessel, it just “pours” down. There is a heating element in the machine which heats up the glass bowel. Nothing great. I feel an electric kettle & a traditional coffee filter does much better.The filter is not fine enough to filter fine coffee powder & hence you will find “mud” in the kettle.Best part is you will have to understand how to operate by looking at images. No manual to describe how it works.Just a waste of money.

Simple and good coffee machine
– Coffee machine is simple to use and clean- Comes with all accessories that are required- You get good result for large quantities i.e. if you brew 5 cups it will taste better than if you brew 2 cups of coffee in the machine.

Terrible product
A terrible redesign of a great product. I have used this same coffee machine from Phillips in the past, however this version has been redesigned and is now a waste of space and money. The filter insert does not fit snugly, and one needs to spend atleast five minutes struggling to put it into place. The water is also dispensed far too quickly, rendering your coffee tasteless. You might as well just buy a coffee filter, place it over a cup and pour water into it. It will be easier and less time consuming.
