You really need to stop using work laptops for personal use — here’s why

New research has revealed an overwhelming majority (90%) of workers use their company-provided laptops for personal activities, potentially posing a serious cybersecurity risk. The study by ESET highlighted a substantial portion of employees also engage in risky activities using their business hardware, including viewing adult content, gambling, accessing the dark web and streaming sports illegally. ESET blames the shift to hybrid and remote work on the added strain for security teams, adding companies should consider adding more robust security measures to manage corporate devices remotely, while also educating employees. World’s largest sovereign wealth fund Bitcoin exposure not ‘intentional’

An analyst has claimed that the Norwegian sovereign wealth fund’s significant increase in indirect Bitcoin exposure, now valued at over $144 million, may not have been a deliberate strategy. “The growth likely originates from pre-determined algo-based sector weighting and risk diversification, it’s unlikely to stem from an intentional choice to amass exposure,” K33 Research senior analyst Vetle Lunde explained in an Aug. 14 X post, following the release of the fund’s first half of 2024 financial report. Deliberate Bitcoin exposure would be more obvious Lunde explained that if it were…

Move over, Rolls Royce – I tried the BMW i7’s 31-inch 8K Theater Screen and it’s the height of automotive luxury

Ask anyone to name the most luxurious car they can think of and I’ll bet good money they say Rolls-Royce. But having spent some time with the BMW i7’s new Theater Mode, which includes a 31.3-inch 8K screen that gracefully slides down from the roof, they may have to revise that opinion.   There’s no real RRP when it comes to a Rolls, while customers can specify pretty much any conceivable option they can dream up, so long as the budget stretches. But dig a little deeper and you’ll notice…

Report: The iPhone 16 Pro might come in a unique shade of “bronze”

Funnily enough, one of the hotly debated topics surrounding the iPhone 16 Pro is what color it’ll come in. Back in late July, notable leaker Sonny Dickson posted an image on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) displaying dummy units of the smartphone in Natural Titanium (basically silver), White Titanium, and Black Titanium. There is supposed to be a fourth color, Rose Titanium pink, although some online sources refer to it as just Rose. Sonny Dickson, as it happens, recently came back to X and shared another photograph of iPhone 16 Pro…

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has released information regarding North Korean developers who allegedly stole $1.3 million from a project’s treasury. The theft was carried out when the devs, who had been hired using fake identities, injected malicious code into the system, which allowed the unauthorized transfer of funds. ZachXBT Uncovers Crypto Workers Scheme ZachXBT explained on X that the stolen funds were initially sent to a theft address and bridged from Solana to Ethereum through the deBridge platform. The funds, 50.2 ETH, were deposited into Tornado Cash, a crypto mixer that…
