Fight, flight or freeze: What’s your response to the threat of GenAI?

Since the Generative AI explosion at the beginning of last year, digital industry has been grappling with the implications of such a significant technological disruption. With Global AI investment set to soar to more than $800 billion in 2030, businesses small and large will be faced with both opportunities and threats. AI tools have the potential to completely transform the market landscape, displacing current market leaders and even leaving the biggest names struggling to stay relevant. The key to survival and success will be the ability to adapt quickly and…

Star Wars: The Acolyte gets axed after its first rickety season

As far as Star Wars quotes go, Yoda’s “Do or do not, there is no try” is certainly up there. As first reported by Deadline, Lucasfilm has opted to “do not” regarding the possible second season of The Acolyte, with the Star Wars offshoot being canceled just over a month after the conclusion of its first season. The Acolyte is a prequel series, set around 100 years before Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace, following a respected Jedi Master as he investigates a crime spree, encountering a former…

How small businesses can harness the productivity power of AI

There is a productivity problem in the UK, and small businesses unfortunately aren’t immune. Although a long-standing issue, poor productivity has been compounded by below-trend economic growth and one-off events like Brexit – it’s definitely tough out there! Xero’s report “Small business productivity: Trends, implications and strategies” reflects these macroeconomic changes, showing UK small business productivity declined by 7% between August 2022 and December 2023, and is now well below the UK’s pre-pandemic range. Without improvement in labor productivity, we risk a domino effect whereby small businesses struggle to re-invest…

Technically a new model in Google’s phone range, the Pixel 9 Pro takes the strong specs of the XL and stuffs it into a smaller frame. The closest thing to C-3PO can be yours – if you have $16,000

Unitree G1 humanoid robot has speed, agility, and a slightly haunting faceless head – and it can be yours for $16,000. The G1 is the more polished and accomplished follow-up to Unitree’s H1 humanoid, a robot I saw doddering around like an old man at CES 2024. That bot walked slowly but remained upright even when Unitree developers delivered a kick to its stiff back. G1, by contrast, is more flexible and faster than its predecessor. It might even be able to run away from that kick. In a recently…

Your Google Pixel might make it even easier to capture Astrophotography shots

Pixel phones have had an Astrophotography mode for several generations now, allowing users to take great pictures of the stars at night. However, accessing this mode requires you to activate the Night Sight feature first, but that may soon change in a future update.  The unofficial Google News channel on Telegram discovered it could be possible to manually activate Astrophotography mode on Pixel. According to the channel’s findings, the change will roll out with the release of the Pixel Camera app version 9.5.118.  To turn on the feature, users will…

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) announced today that it has dismantled over 600 cryptocurrency scams in the past 12 months. This announcement comes as ASIC marks the first anniversary of its investment scam disruption initiative, revealing that more than 7,300 phishing and fraudulent websites have been taken down over the past year. Marshall’s new portable speakers drop the bass with louder output and smarter features

Summer may be winding down, but that hasn’t stopped Marshall from keeping the party going. The audio brand has recently revealed two new wireless speakers: the Emberton III and the Willen II. At a glance, the former looks identical to the Emberton II from 2022, still resembling a mini guitar amplifier. But don’t worry – this isn’t just an encore, as the next-gen model introduces several improvements. Like its predecessor, the Emberton III sports the company’s ‘True Stereophonic’ sound for outputting rich multidirectional sound. The tech has spatial qualities, making it seem…
