AI will clean up your next video’s messy look and sound

Microsoft is giving its Clipchamp video editor an AI upgrade with two new features. Clipchamp users can now employ AI to silence unwanted sounds and remove and cleanly replace background images. The new tools are accessible to Microsoft 365 Insiders but could expand to others as the tech giant seeks to incorporate AI across its media platforms.  These aren’t insignificant features to the average video editor. Unwanted noise is endemic to video production and is often cited as a headache for editors, even though it’s necessary to make sure a…

It’s not an echo – ChatGPT might suddenly mimic your voice when you speak to it

ChatGPT might sometimes seem able to think like you, but wait until it suddenly sounds just like you, too. That’s a chance brought to light by the new Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT, specifically the more advanced GPT-4o model. OpenAI released the system card last week explaining what GPT-4o can and can’t do, which includes the very unlikely but still real possibility of Advanced Voice Mode, imitating users’ voices without their consent. Advanced Voice Mode lets users engage in spoken conversations with the AI chatbot. The idea is to make…

Thousands of Google Chrome browsers are at risk from this damaging attack

Cybersecurity researchers have spotted a new malicious campaign that hijacks web browsers to steal sensitive data. A report from ReasonLabs outlined how the campaign has so far hit around 300,000 Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge users by creating websites offering fake software for free, including the likes of Roblox FPS Unlocker, YouTube, VLC media player, Steam, or KeePass.  Victims who navigate to these websites and download the fake software instead get a trojan malware that’s been around since 2021.
